Love them back

Love them back

A Poem by Aarti Sriram

The hands tough but nurtured so gently

The wrinkles, the struggles, and life barely

The wisdom brings inheritance to every jack

The time is just right to love them back

The old things lost luster, not the memories

They hang around for us like the berries

Their life now slow but grace no lack

The time is just right to love them back

We complain and tease it is clutter

They saved photos and our first utter

They smile as symptoms of age attack

The time is just right to love them back

We accomplished and  grew more rich

They feel proud of us even with our glitch

I Have two sets of them now as  I embark

The time is just right to love them back

A very finely penned tribute to parents so loving and caring in this flawlessly inked write, dear Aarti. The memories will always be with us, they are a part of us, as are our beloved parents, the two are inseparable. I love the whole poem and the final stanza brings the poem together for me, like a beautiful big red bow and ribbon on a bouquet of flowers. A superb poetic gem wrapped in finesse, dear Aarti. A privilege to read. A heartfelt thank you for sharing, dear poetess...

Thankyou dear Adriana for stopping by. For your time and thoughts.
a wise poem with a deep message. we don't do enough for our parents, indeed we cannot be grateful enough for them. they who brought us into this world and raised us. as confucius said, 'the best time to start is ten years ago, the second best time to start is now.' so, now. now. love them back. it's a beautiful message.

I fight my mom always or the time, sometimes she nags,
sometimes i do, but still we bond
we share the same blood, she fast while i eat,
or these i cant pay back, so i just need to love her
