Oh Sweet Misery.A Poem by Anthony“A reflection on enduring hardship and finding a somber companionship in misery through life’s constant challenges.”
Oh sweet misery, they say you love company,
Woe is the man that is chosen by thee, For who would want to be cast into despair? Yet we pair so well, you and I, it’s rare. Many adventures we have shared, In a world where joy is seldom spared. Through every storm and endless rain, Perhaps I should carry an umbrella for this pain? Yet somehow together, we go on stage, Millions greet us"our friends? Our family? But do they know the depths of our pain? We carry this burden into a sea of misery, Where no one will just let us be. They say, “Come out! Shout at us, can you hear us, you lout!” We stare back with weary eyes, unable to hear their cries, So dreary and forlorn, we drift through this despair, Lost and adrift in this sea of woe, beyond repair. Yet in this sea of darkness, we float side by side, Finding solace in the shadows where our sorrows reside. Oh sweet misery, you are my steadfast friend, Together we endure, until this journey’s end. © 2024 Anthony |
