DualityA Poem by AnthonyDuality. A reflection on the struggle between one’s true self and the mask worn to face the world, exploring themes of despair and isolation.
As I stare into the abyss,
My heart consumed by despair, A pain beyond repair, I walk this earth on broken glass, Hiding tears behind a broken mask. No one whispers, “Be still, your beating heart, my dear.” While they gather with joy and cheer, I stand alone, lost in contemplation, Facing their jeers, Locked in an inner duel, Struggling with the duality of my mask And my true self. Awaiting my casket to take me from this pain, It’s such a shame, That it all feels in vain. © 2024 Anthony |
