I Caught a RavenA Poem by AnoxicA poem about the freedom of a soul and our love for it. Yet, we seek to control it so that it suits our needs. Originally written for a woman I knew that was as free as a bird.I caught a raven by it's tail It fluttered, yet it did not flail And before it could up and fly away I slammed it inside of a cage It didn't scream, yelp, or holler But accepted scene against desire Shocked or calm I shall never know Imprisoned, but I was never foe I kept it there for what I deem as days There, where I beam, and there it stays Telling friends of the young captured soul Never accepting the eventual toll Until a day the raven began to sing The beautiful soft song would ring Across empty halls and
abandoned rooms Amongst bitter aromas and smokey
fumes It stopped its song for just a moment Bit the latch, that would prolong it Worked at it with it's full avail Until the cage was an empty shell So now here I sit once again Remembering, my long gone friend Waiting for the next raven to come my way And sit in this cage Where it
shall stay. © 2013 AnoxicAuthor's Note
