The Crimson Bride

The Crimson Bride

A Story by Aria

The Crimson Bride stands in a church against her will.
The Virgin Soul sings a lullaby to her guests, hoping to soothe their kill.
Mother, father, uncle, friend...all are forever asleep.
The Prince of Darkness watches as his forced bride falls and weeps

...................*******.......................

A happy maid, ready to marry her guardian, her soulmate
A maid ready to disobey Fate
A gentleman, ready to hold his soon to be wife
A man never knowing, he would lose his bride and his life

.................********....................

Everyone with a beautiful smile and happy heart
Walking into the House of God, unknowingly ready to fall apart
The Horsemen of the Prince burst open the church doors
In an instant, generations of souls perish, bleeding bodies now on the marble floor

The angel shields his beloved from this distorted fantasy
The illuminated souls begin to cry, fearing, each other they will never see
A red pool forms underneath the Prince and nearing the Angel and Bride
The smiles have all faded, the hearts stopped, they have all died

With his love safe in his arms, he calms her with a small kiss
The laughing, almost giddy, Prince raises his hand and ends their bliss
Seeing what she does not, the Angel turns and receives his love's gift of death
Nearly in her heart, the arrow slowly takes away her angel's breath

As wings are exposed, the angel falls to the ground never letting go of his bride's hand
A scream leaves the maidens' lips as she falls with her love, wishing time would, still, stand
Taking out the arrow, she holds her angel as one last time, their lips meet. Shaking, the bride lets her groom go
Her gentleman's blood now on her gown, uncontrolable tears falling as the rain pours, she lets her blood flow

The Prince is not happy with her choice
Lying upon her angel, she says 'Forgive me' with a quivering voice
Thunder and lightning make their song as his majesty holds back the maid from leaving
With a sudden breath in her lungs, she rises in the demon's arms, her heart no longer bleeding

Helpless, the virgin soul is to come undone by hell's keeper
Suddenly, the savage, never beginning, lets go of her
In shock, the girl lays there full of sorrow and fear
The Prince and hi army flee. Someone is here

Struggling, she stands, her white gown now red
She is blind to what scared away the evil
All her eyes see are lifeless bodies and half her soul dead
She looks to the broken doors and when she looks back, he was gone. It happened. What she feared.
Her angel's resting place had been cleared

Falling to her knees in his pool of blood left behind
The crimson bride screams as she slowly loses her mind

The angel's wings surround herreturned life
The bride stands with her angel in her white gown. They kiss and he tells her "I am your husband and you are my wife"

Wow. How scary and original, just like a scene from a Tim Burton movie.
I like the choice between good en evil, at the passing into adulthood symbolized by the marriage.

I absolutely loved this. I think this is one of the bests submissions in my contest. It was sort of cynical, but very very veyr good. Totally fav-worthy, and totally a finalist.

I don't do well with talking about myself so I will simply say that my writing sets the stage for my imagination to play. But more than that, every piece I write, whether a poem or novel, is a bit of .. more..
