"Butterfly"

A short poem with hidden meanings

Butterfly

 

You are a butterfly

You are beautiful

But you have to die

Because all beautiful things must go

 

Live your life

Superior to all

But when the time is right

Your kingdom will fall

 

Like gold to glass

Your beauty will not last

Your gold was fake

And like glass, you will break

 

Every rose comes with thorns

And soon you’ll be gone

You were never a king

You were always a pawn

 

You sat on your throne

But no one was there

You sat all alone

In your deepest despair

 

You smile now

But soon you will cry

This is your vow

And your last goodbye

 

Because you are a butterfly

And you are beautiful

But you know you will die

For all beautiful things must go

This poem took my idea of a butterfly and twisted it all up.
I love the lines "Like gold to glass, And like glass you will break"
