Eagle

Eagle

A Poem by AnonymousScribe

Tortured is the eagle caged and ignored,

chained to iron and made a display.

Shamed is the hunter that once did soar,

locked to bars and weighted with dismay.

mournful is he that spreads clipped wings,

with accurate eyes seeing only a prison.

Gone is the glory of his morning hym,

now singing only of great longing.

Let him who weeps be free again,

oh benevolent king, show him your mercy.

Let him taste the winds once again,

lest such potential be lost in captivity.
