Entertainer

Entertainer

A Poem by Annie

Perhaps to you I am a mere entertainer

A puppet

whos strings you may control at will.

Pull on my heart string.

See how many tears

you can get to fall down my face.

Pull on the string that controls my head.

Do I look up at you?

Can you get this wooden face to smile?

Perhaps to you I am a mere entertainer.

Not a friend.

Nor a lover.

An entertainer.

Pull on the strings controlling my feet.

I fall to the ground.

Or anything that happens to lay beneath.

I fall

without you to catch me.

Play with the strings that control my hands.

What good are hands

that are controlled by others?

Perhaps I am not but an entertainer.

A puppet when you hunger for power.

A doll when you need a pretty face.

A dog when you want loyalty.

I am an entertainer.

Trapped to forever be

your puppet.
