Black Forest

Black Forest

A Poem by Annie

No where to run

No where to hide

No where to turn

While I die inside

The forest darkens

as my feet quicken.

My heart races

as thick evergreens begin

closing in.

An adrenaline rush.

My cheeks flush with color...

Faster.

Black forest whirring by.

Travelling at an inhuman pace.

Uncontrollable time racing past

as my feet continue to fly.

Gasping for air...

Is it possible to drown on land?

Faster.

Head spinning.

Soft forest floor rises to engulf me.

My eyes droop.

My breathing slowly grows steady...

When will I ever become tired of running?
