Good Without Bad?

Good Without Bad?

A Poem by Annie Vincent

Would you love light if you didn't know darkness?
What's paradise if this world is sinless?
For even angels were made to rebel,
Why yearn Heaven with no fear of Hell?
Would you know peace if you didn't know war?
Does a bit of blood make my life un-pure?
A perfect world, benevolence and love,
Does such a place truly exist above?
Beguiling indeed, a lovely thought,
Though desperation be rigid and taut,
For only a blind artist dare to paint,
A faultless portrait of a righteous saint,
And love is a pain not here to adorn,
If your life's the side, let me be the thorn.
