Burning

Burning

A Poem by AnnieLou

I want to be free from the toils of man.

I want to turn a blind eye.

I want to ignore that static disgrace

that grazes over golden fields

and walls of steel.

If there is one that does not feel it

they soon will.

The end of  the world is surely near

But alas, there’s still a slip;

a sliver of hope some choose to ignore.

It knocks on every door,

and like a child it is not heard

amongst the cries

of silly politicians

with burning red eyes.

A vitriolic attack amidst the pain of watching our planet disintegrate before our eyes. You capture the emotional side, the anger and frustration yes but also the feeling that sometghing can and must be done if only the power grabbing and greed could be curtailed.

Wow, this is wonderfully written, and artfully expressive.
I think you've captured the sentiment of most people today.
Silly politicians. Aren't they more childlike than children?
Thanks for this insightful piece.
