I remember the look in your eye, when you saw the smile on my face.
I remember the tilt of your head with a big grin, and
the touch of your finger to my chin, as you would pull my head in.
I remember when you would say I miss you... if only I could fly, and
how you would squeeze my leg to let me know you didn't want to say goodbye.
I remember how you would put your hat on me,
the way you said was the right way, was the way it had to be.
I remember when I would be walking in the mud as you would come and run, and
pick me up and say, "Hurry up and jump!"
I remember when your arms would be wrapped around my waist,
as mine were tight around your neck.
I remember how the stars shined in your eyes, and
how we hated saying our goodbyes.
I remember our laughter, and I remember my cries.
I remember when you would sing to me, and
you would ask me what song it would be.
I remember how you would hold me tight, when it was cold at night.
I remember my head on your shoulder, with yours on mine,
thinking that with you everything will be just fine.
I remember trying to stay away when I couldn't, and
I remember going back when I shouldn't.
I remember all the tears that fall, and
I remember how you were never worth it after all.
I remember how it all got shattered and how to you, none of it mattered.
I remember the day I realized you would never try, and
when I just had to learn to say so long goodbye.
