Honesty is the Best PolicyA Poem by Emma KirchhoffJust kinda something I came up with on the spot
If I'm being honest
The charade I play to make everyone else believe I'm alright Is starting to work on you, too. I've always thought that anyone can seem to enjoy life if they fill it with enough stories and that is something I've taught myself to do particularly well. You should know that by now. I'd rather be caught dead than staying in one spot Traveling here Working over there Volunteering my time
me To keep myself busy So I have plenty of adventures to speak of But you should be able to see that they're nothing but stories. And if I'm being honest Tuesday was not a good day at all But I couldn't tell you that now, Could I? I can tell you that I wanted to, You know, tell you and all, But there is an immense chasm between us and I feel that even if I shout The only response I'll get back is the soft echo
Of my own words Hitting me in the face
as they come back to remind me, Telling my story back to me Leaving me to believe that the only person who will listen to my problems Is myself But I couldn't tell you that, Could I? It is, after all, just another story.
