Once upon a time,

there was little old me.

Then, you came along.

I thought things would change for the better.

There were rumors about you.

Mostly bad, yet I still had hope in you.

You had a past with one of my friends.

I didn't think much of it.

We talked and talked and talked.

Soon, I realized, you wanted more.

I couldn't give you that.

I didn't want to.

We gave up at some point, but you came back.

I let you back in.

Now, I ask, why?

Why did I do that?

Now, you went back to her.

You needed what I couldn't give you.

So you left.
