Overburdened

How do we know if we really know someone?

What would you do
if the secrets stored
in the vaults of my 

burdened mind
were to be shifted

shovelled onto

your shoulders

 

What would you do
if the burning tears

of my sorrowful soul
were to burst forth

from fragile dams
threatening
to drown you

 

What would you do
if the daunting

memories that are

haunting my
once happy heart
were to escape
hunt you down

 

What would you do
if my concrete
walls were to

crumble, tumble

down to the ground
leaving me vulnerable
exposed

Would you turn away
avert your eyes
wave me goodbye
would you leave me
to weather
the elements
on my own

 

How will I know
if you

this is powerful, my friend...very powerful.

. oh, i absolutely love the images in each stanza ... and your skillful and sensitive expressions woven around them ... but i love the last three lines even more ... i have a doctorate in dealing with this category of intense silence ... and a post doctorate in making attempts to address it through poetry ... lol ... :D ... but i have still to reach a stage where my poems are read by the one poet i primarily write them for ... so i'm thinkin' ... people should read more poetry ... everyone we write for should read what's been written ... then popping poems would acquire a whole new meaning ... the universe of meaning would acquire a whole new dimension in communication ... and i'm thinkin' all this because this is brilliantly written and must reach all those that it applies to ... thank you for this ... it's quite the inspiration i was looking for ... :) ...
