The Change

The Change

A Poem by Annie LaHue
"

A poetic commentary on my feelings towards changes.

"

I guess people are always

Going through changes.

Blinking in

And out

Of our lives;

Rearranging.

A bittersweet

Metamorphosis.

Waking up

To notice

Subtle

Differences.

Without it,

What good are we?

Stuck

In the Same

Monotony.

Same

Similar

Same

Life.

Without.

Change.

Yet,

What if I can’t change?

And my grace

Is squandered on my face,

Then must I smile

To hasten this waste?

For I cannot be what is in my heart.

I cannot postpone,

What was doomed

From the

start.

There is this shadow

Hanging over me

A demon

In an empty

hallway,

Waiting for my walls

To tumble down.

It screams,

YOU CANNOT CHANGE;

Still the same.

You should never

Have tried

To play

    This

Game.

So I’ll crawl under the rubble

And debris

And all that is left,

After everyone has changed.

I’ll stay and forget.

Very interesting. It defiantly shows the ups and downs of life and how one might react to certain things.

Aww I really like this poem, Annie! I really admire the structure you chose, the poem has a perfect flow!Really makes you dwell on the separate words, or the words the structure emphasizes! Thanks for sharing(:
