Flammable Heart

Flammable Heart

A Poem by Annelise

My heart is far too flammable

to think of you

to love you.

I loved you so much

the first time I saw you

it turned to hate.

You sit in the grass

smoke curling

up up up

and around your face,

you have the saddest eyes.

Pretty girl lips

pretty girl eyes

didn't anyone ever tell you

you were too pretty for a boy?

Dance with the crows

forget about you

staring

so alone

give them whats left.

Haven't I hurt you enough?

My heart is too flammable

to keep you safe

to curl your pain in my womb

and heal.

Maybe tonight

I could try

There is a bittersweet longing to love, yet feelings of inadequacy.. Such heartfelt emotions that color your words with deepest hues.
