Prudence

Prudence

A Poem by Annebelle Ashire

Darling, I'm drenched from head to toe,

I finally let you go...

It hasn't rained in weeks,

So now the storm, for me she speaks...

You won't say a word,

So I'm praying through the pelting drops you've heard...

My goodbye,

Through this stormy sky...

Just like the first night spent together,

Only this time, goodbye.. is forever...

Being friends with you,

Will only sever this hole through...

So please don't attempt to give me,

Your option of bitter sympathy...

Ask away with your questions dear,

I will not quiver behind such fear...

Tell me your thoughts and I will listen,

Whether you have any to share, that's your decision...

My love, Just please don't expect to come back,

With loving arms, still in tact...

You've pushed me far enough,

I'm done pulling myself back up, acting tough...

It's time you know what I've become,

Which will have to be -

- Numb -

When you love someone, you have to be willing to let that person go..

but when you love your best friend, you have to know that it cannot fathom the future you anticipate.
