Rock Star

Rock Star

A Poem by Annebelle Ashire

She's a rock star;

Singing words from songs

She wrote the other night.

Pretending everything

Will be just fine.

She's a rock star;

And she's got it all

Right down to the smile.

Taking in the pain

All the while.

She's a rock star;

Before each show

She has to be sure,

That she got all those tear stains

And bruises mature.

She's a rock star;

They all love her

But her story is getting old.

With every passing moment

She's a bit more cold.

She's a rock star;

She's holding her breath

Waiting for their approval.

Now there is silence

Attending her removal.

She's a rock star;

She's a dream;

She was a superstar;

She lost her self - esteem.

I find it simplistic, cliche, and boring. Blek.

This poem is definitely an original take on celebrities nowadays, or just anyone that seeks approval from people, when they should be looking for it within themselves. I loved the fast-paced lines and the repetition in this poem, it worked really well!
