Silence is Acceptance

Silence is Acceptance

A Story by Annebelle Ashire

Look out the window
Above the ground fog hovers
See the vague yellow glow
Throw off the covers

Quiet footsteps to the door
Unlatch the old copper lock
No creaking from the hard-wood floor
Peer out to the old tattered dock

Walk over broken twigs and mossy rocks
Creep upon the splinter-covered platform
The feeling that you're getting, the water mocks
The misting breeze so warm

Birds whisper of this stranger so early morn
Ignore them, walk on
Sit near the end;
Water lukewarm
Confusion;
Gone

Stakes beneath you sway
Translucent ripples crash onto the sides
Look at the game they play
Each pattern simply glides

Inhale the humid air
Exhale all that causes pain
Relax, let the wind brush your hair
Let your heart rid of what it may contain

Allow yourself to become lost in thought
Empty all that you feel to what is silent
Forget everything you ever held back;
Faught
Memories become violent

Gaze at the clouds above
Concentrate on the breeze now
Don't even THINK about love
Wipe the due from your brow

Breathe deep one last time
Let this morning take complete controle
So sublime
Just let go

Rise to your feet
Turn and face the truth
It's these beginnings to your days that make you complete
That restore your lost youth

Look around once more
Realize the beauty no one else will ever see
Walk back to your old wooden door
On this morning next to me
