Hanging By A Thread

Hanging By A Thread

A Poem by Annebelle Ashire

I thought I was done with my fight.
I thought I wouldn't have to cry anymore!
But I was far from being right.
I should have known this "long" before!

It's not fair!
I miss you so much, I need you now.
I'm here and you're there.
I need you to get here, I don't care how.

My thread is growing thin.
Whatever hope I have left is at an end...
I'm fighting, but I just can't seem to win!
This pain is not my friend...

I've cried so much, I'm sick (i can't see)
My heart is pounding as well as my head.
I need you to be holding me!
I need you to wipe the tears I've shed.

I miss the color of your eyes.
And the way your skin feels against mine.
It doesn't matter who tries,
No one can get me to smile this time.

I dream and see only your face...
I open my eyes and I am alone.
I can see myself falling from grace...
As every day I do nothing but wait by the phone.

You're on my mind every minute of every day.
Thoughts of you linger behind everything I do.
Behind everything I say.
God,
I love you.

I meant what I said
When I told you I'd do anything for you.
And I'll say it all over again.
I'll do whatever I have to
To whisper
[I love you]
