Past, Future, Present

Past, Future, Present

A Poem by Annebelle Ashire

The past

It's like a tick

You burn the body off

But the head stays

Leaving a scar

One everyone can see

The more painful things become

The more burn marks you gain

The future

It's like an open wound

You take care of it

Hoping it gets better

It scabs over

But still stands a chance of infection

Maybe you fall and it opens back up

This time leaving you with a scar

The past and the future

Hold so much irony

We focus so much on them

And not enough on the present

The present

Is like a child

Be careful how you

Handle it
