A sparrow singing

A sparrow singing
Tears you from a dream
Echoing out the darkness
It whispers
It screams

The shadows wave
In a hunted breeze
While you quiver
Like the whistling leaves

There’s some movement
In the shadows
With a soul piercing stare
Rustling up the dead-fall
You here it draws near

There’s nowhere to run
Nowhere to hide
Are the doors lock?
Can it get inside?

A sparrow flying
Goes by flapping its wings
Leaves fall, erratic
Broken patterns
Stealing dreams
