Ripples

Ripples

A Poem by Anne Timmins

Ripples lick along muddied bank
Of rivers breathing twilight...

Teasing the quiet,
Like a lullaby without words

Or a dancer tiptoeing through time
On slippered feet,

This song of summer plays
On and on within the rhythm

Of every sigh, every whisper,
Every familiar footstep of day

Walking gently into night.

Your poetry walks gently into my consciousness, Anne, inviting me to return, every time I read. What a pleasure it is!

Such a simple yet exquisite poem detailing the movement of people in comparison to the movement of nature taking its natural strolls through wherever it goes through. Truly lovely.

The imagery in this poem is wonderful. I did stumble a bit over the opening line, but the rest is perfect!
