Ripples

Ripples

A Poem by Anne Timmins

Ripples lick along muddied bank
Of rivers breathing twilight...

Teasing the quiet,
Like a lullaby without words

Or a dancer tiptoeing through time
On slippered feet,

This song of summer plays
On and on within the rhythm

Of every sigh, every whisper,
Every familiar footstep of day

Walking gently into night.

This pours emotion onto the page. It is very open, unreserved and it has a tenderness about it. I like the phrasing very much

I really like couplets, so I liked this right away. The couplet ( my POV) is perfect as a poetic form, and you use it very well here..
