Looking out my kitchen window Wishing for another day another Captain Crunch and milk spilled on the table; or peanut putter and jelly smeared on the counter top
it’s gone in a blink of an eye take a deep breath Exhale- It’ll be all over quicker than you realize Faster than a speeding bullet
Take it all in mommy forget those anger moments Laugh and giggle in the middle of a puddle of chocolate spilled milk of sand-like sugar, salt, and pepper lying on the floor
Forget the time it takes to clean up the mess to wash hands and faces just laugh and be in the moment of it all It only last for a millisecond and then…it’s over.
They’re off to university, or homes of their own to chase the dollar, and grow children and lives it happens in the blink of an eye"so quick faster than a speeding bullet! Catch this moment in your memory!
How we long for peace and quiet , and then - the children leave and we can't wait for them to call us. Then they marry and it starts all over again with the grandchildren. But really, we love it!!!
Your poem has caught this inescapable truth so well. Brought a wry smile to my face.
Well done indeed, the concept that life often flies by as we slave away day after day moaning about the difficulty of the work until suddenly, everything's changed and we wish for the past. Wonderfully put and so light hearted, Anne Timmins, as always. Well done
Your poem is true. Times goes too fast. Sometime we must slow down and enjoy the view of the world. A poem for the new times. People are too busy to enjoy the free and simple things. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Those moments are ever fleeting, aren't they? I run a small daycare from my home, so this was pretty special for me. And yet, it conjured up memories of my now college aged son...wonderful poetry, Anne!
