Splashed by Tears

Splashed by Tears

A Poem by Anne Timmins

At the very thought of going immune,
I thought of tears!
Let them go dry.
Once the wish was on my lips,
I failed to utter.
My heart screamed in silence
You are going to lose your sensitivity
My soul cried in vigilance
Beware! You are going to turn dry
Splashed by the rainy thoughts
Paused for a second,
Out of realm…
I thought...
No...
I can’t go dry!!!

I love the structure of this poem, and the word usage. What I personally get out of it is a fear of becoming apathetic, either through overexposure due to life, the media, or whatever may be the case.
