On Thursday I will drink a tomatoe juice in Montreal, I'll hope for rain, for lights reflected across the windshields of double parked cars; weather to fit my mood, the half-shut eyes of a midnight cocktail shaker alone at the bar. I'll visit all the situations in the city.
Montreal was crazy that winter for old rock and roll; girls two-stepped with each other in cellar clubs. I'll try to exorcise ghosts 20-years old; your packed bags by the door, a drained juice glass and a taxi sounding its horn. I had on white heels, it was that long ago.
Wow, I love the fluidity of the memories described in this. You've captured the mood and presented it just as a cocktail is presented for the reader to become ingest and become part of it so well! Well done!
Anne, I am really fond of this piece. I personally adore pieces that at snap shots into the mind. The tonal quality of this writing is consistent through out, and like so many of you pieces is so wonderful to read.
I really like this poem, I am from Montreal after all!
But seriously, it has a wonderful mood and something so natural, a natural voice that is soothing and wonderful. If this hand't been such a deep week in the contest, this poem might have gone further.
Anne, meet Anna, Ahkmatova that is. The sparseness, but depth of this short work reminds me of my hero, Anna Ahkmatova's poems. She wrote of simple, daily situations, in such a strong style, she came to mind as soon as I read this excellent work.

I invite you to have a look at it.
This is such a poignant piece. I noticed it has been here a while, and I feel silly, but compelled to point out that tomato does not have an "e" unless you want it to, of course, I am never quite sure how to go about these things ... Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed.
