I am your reflection
your mirror, in me
you find yourself
your opposite

we stand on opposing sides

in the pure water between us
I see your angelic form inverted
you see the reality
of my upside-down life

illuminated in moonlight

in the light of day
I am a ghost, barely there
a wisp of a spirit
red hair blowing in the wind

I am a waterfall

to some, mercurial
a mutable soul
a vagabond
searching for the shelter

you find in me

I genuinely like this, and there are even a few lines which really triggered a brief flutter of romantic feelings. That's not just because of any specific line, rather more the combination of certain elements. For me, the references to moonlight, other elements around us e.g. water, waterfall and wind applied in conjunction with the moonlight. Interestingly, moonlight can have different connotations - ranging from association with romance, to mystery or the supernatural; for example.

There's a reference to the mirror, and mirror imagery. In some of my writings, I have touched upon a few of the individual elements in this piece; but utilised them in rather different ways.

At the end, I liked the idea of shelter being offered to a vagabond. It was simply a nice thought, as much as anything else. Of course, it needn't be a vagabond here; as someone hitting the road - because they're homeless after falling to pay the rent. A vagabond could represent a lost soul, a man with a quest for "something". Or, something which "only the writer knows for sure"; as I sometimes say.

Thankyou, Anne. Julian. I miss you, and good to see you back on form with this piece.

So wonderful and tender dear Anne.

I loved the above lines. All of us are vagabonds seeking the kindness of love. Thank you dear friend for sharing the outstanding poetry.

I'm impressed. This has a beginning, a middle, and it comes together in an appropriate way. It shows wisdom too.

Wisdom? No one has ever accused me of that before. ;-) Thanks for your comments.

I stand by my comment. I think the mirror and opposite analogy is perfect in this instance.
