"The Battle"

"The Battle"

A Poem by Annawanna01

I see her laying there

All those tubes in her face

My sweet little sister

I wish I could embrace

No need for tears

They all have been shed

For soon I know

My sister will be dead

For she has a disease

One with no cure

She says to me

"Please always love me for sure"

She lies here in bed

Waiting to die

She lets down her head

Closes her eyes

She has been strong

She fought so hard

But her death will be long

The Battle is lost

She waits here patiently

And holds my hand

And I know she was happy

With me and my dad

She fought hard to beat

The disease that she had

And would never complain

About feeling bad

It's certainly not fair

The battle she fought

And all those who knew her

Took in what she taught

For those who missed out

On life's smallest lesson

Were sorry they missed out

On our biggest blessing

For someone so young

Her heart was of gold

You would never have guessed

She was just five years old

But it will only be sad

For those left behind

No more feeling bad

No more will she cry

For as I see her eyes close one last time

I'm happy to see

She's finally free.
