The Android application development company was looking for me.

The Android application development company was looking for me.

A Story by Anna Brian

During my college days, I was never considered working for any company, because  I was very keen on building my own Android app development company. I had a couple of ideas for Android apps, that I thought could make my startup one of the top Android app maker.

Many professionals, including my teachers has always asked me why an Android app development company? I always told them that Google Android is at 85% of the smartphones in the market, thus making it a huge community of users. This huge community of Android users is looking for apps on the Google Play store. As of July 2014, there are 1,300,000 apps available on the Google Play.

So, I was looking forward to build an Android app development company that could cater all the Google Play developer needs. However, it turned out that you need several things other than your ambitions and ideas in order to launch a startup. So, after my graduation, I went looking for jobs. I applied in several best Android application development companies, but I never got an interview or test call.

Then I tried my hands on freelance work as an indie developer, that also resulted in hours of communication with customers across the globe and after several nearly closed deals on Elance, oDesk, and Freelancers, I left that too. Those were the dark days of my life, I consulted a friend, who was working as an Android application developer for the top Android app maker. He asked me for my CV and immediately mentioned a couple of mistakes in my CV. I changed those and posted it on LinkedIn, Monster, and US jobs. A couple of days later, I got three calls for test and interviews for the post of Android application developer from three different Android application development company. I learned that a dumb CV could portray you as a dumb university graduate who knows nothing about Android phone app development.

It is needless to say that I got job offers from all three companies. I joined one of the top Android app maker and worked there for a couple of years before leaving to follow my dream of creating my own Android app development company. The thing is that every Android app development company is looking for young Google Play developers like you, all you need to do is portray yourself correctly for the right job.
