Granddad: A Ghazal to An Angel
By: Annie Walk

You've left me here along with the rest of the family.

Where have you gone granddad?

You spent your time on this earth well.
From traveling to creating this family, you did a fantastic job Granddad.

You got sick and we watched you struggle.
I tell you what, that was one of the hardest things to do Granddad.

On March 22nd 2015 at 11:40 pm, you left us here.
You decided it was your time to go with the Angels, Granddad.

We don't hold it against you.
We're glad you're no longer struggling, Granddad.

You'll never see me walk across that stage at graduation.

You'll never watch me get married, Granddad.

You'll never meet my kids.

But you will be watching over me, Granddad.

You're reunited with Grandma Keke,Grandma T, and Hannah.

You're an Angel now, Granddad.

Shouldn't I be happy?

Shouldn't I be happy that you're out of your misery, Granddad?

Shouldn't I be happy you're no longer hurting?

I miss you Granddad.

Losing a grandparent is such an awful pain to endure.
When I found the news out, I thought I would be sick Granddad.

Then I thought of you.

I thought of the weight lifted off your shoulders, Granddad.

I thought how you'd be young again.

Joyful and happy dancing in Heaven, Granddad.

Then the sick feeling went away.

I'll miss you for the rest of my life, Granddad.

You were the greatest grandparent I could have asked for.
Watch over all of us, because we know you have love for us like we do for you, Granddad.

We'll be together again one day.
I know we will, Granddad.

You're forever my guardian angel and my hero.
I loved you then, I love you now Granddad.

You’re gone, but never forgotten.
Rest in peace, Granddad.

A wonderful heartfelt tribute to a person who was the bedrock of your family. He is watching over you and your family, he may not physically present there but his spirit is there and always will be...

You wrote this poem with utmost sincerity and care, and speaks of how much that person means to you... He is in God's company now and is smiling watching you doing well in your life...

Sincerely
Dhiman
