Paper-thin Promises

Paper-thin Promises

A Poem by Anita Singh

Paper-thin promises...
Words written on a paper, easily torn apart
And then you had to go and break my heart

Paper-thin promises...
Words that wash away in the rain
I knew it was my loss and your gain

Paper-thin promises...
Words that can easily be erased
You didn't even tell me who you are
Or even show me your face

Paper-thin promises...
Words that fade away with time
Your promises left me aimless with no reason or rhyme.

I like the concept of "paper-thin promises.' Original and fresh. The last stanza struck me the most but I think you mean, "your promises left me aimless." Also in "easily be torn apart," you may want to omit "be."

"aimless with no reason or rhyme" is beautiful.

Short, simple yet meaningful...Words do fade with time but the magic which you are creating with yours won't fade away so easily....
The poem holds our interest from starting to end and doesn't disappoints at all....
