Heavenly Lights : Laterns

Heavenly Lights : Laterns

A Poem by AnnaMariaQQss

My little girl saw the lights

And asked me why they were so bright

Then went on to question me future

By asking me if they're from our Father

I giggle and laughed at her silly gesture

Only to have her stomp her foot at me

She said " You silly Mama, of course they are "

And went on to explain our heavenly stars

" For every angel, god takes from earth...

He replaces with beautiful falling stars

But the secret treasure, my silly little Mama...

Is that when Angels get tired of flying so high

They fall to the ground just like shooting stars

Cept once they land, Mama, they glow forever

Cause our Father sent them to light our way "

Now she's grown and has lost her way

So I decided, we needed to watch the water

This time I asked her to bring along her Baby

An adorable, bright, intelligent little girl

An image of her from so long ago

A four year old clone of her own self

Not knowing where I was taking them to

I asked her to bring along a blanket and salt

While parking the car with my Babies in it

My daughter said, Oh Mommy you remember

I grabbed her and my granddaughters hand

And smiled, as I knew what I was about to do

Once the blanket was spread, all was settled

I told my wee granddaughter, the very same tale...

That my own lovely Daughter enlightened me of :

Except when I reached the end I asked my baby

To go on, and tell her very own daughter

What she had told, me nearly thirty years ago

With a tear in her eyes, one running down her cheek

She replayed the wonderful story just like she had to me

" For every angel god takes from earth...

He replaces with beautiful falling stars

But the secret treasure, my silly little Mama and baby...

Is that when Angels get tired of flying so high

They fall to the ground, just like shooting stars

Cept once they land Mama and baby, they glow forever

Cause our Father sent them.... to light our way "

Then placing the salt shaker in our Lil` Ones hand...

I told her it was for the Angels, to salt their tears....

Both of my girls looked at me with great confusion...

Then parted their mouths, in perfect matching O's

To mutter the questions, That I already knew so well

Why the salt Mama and Grammy

I smiled at my dears, both big and so little...

And I said with a smile, as a tear escapes my eye

The salt is for all those Angels, floating and glowing...

Because not one of Gods Angels, flying or falling,

Never - Ever .....Forget to cry and weep,

When they fall and scrap a knee

All at once my Daughter and Granddaughter laughed..

And sang out in unison, as any little girls would...

Ain't we the silliest, can you just believe this place

Then I lovingly peered into my grown up Lil girls eyes

And I said " You silly Mama, of course you both are "

And happily I went on, to explain our heavenly stars
