Forgotten

Forgotten

A Poem by Echo Nightfield
"

From time to time we all feel like we're forgotten.

"
My past haunts, worse then those who stare and taunt,
Something I never wanted to do,
Had no choice,
Causing the loss of a loved one,
To take it back I would give my own life,
What have I got left?

Heavy heart, why do you still beat?
Leadened feet, why do you still march on?
Why do I still go on?
What calls to me further down life's path?

Heavy heart, be still and let me fade from this life,
Feet, I command you stop your march,
Take me to the rock by the lake,
Sit me down and let me gather my good byes,
For what have I done?
How can I go on alone?

Dispear overwhelming,
Drowning in sorrow,
The clouds break and a note flutters in the wind,
Only to land next to my ankle
The only words that saved someone's life,
Something I never say enough
I love you

I love you
That's why I must go on...
I have more love to give,
No matter the memories that haunt,
Nor the people that will taunt me
For love knows no bounds,
Love knows no end,
Love is a legend in these dark times,

Love was forgotten,
Just like me.

This was a masterpiece of emotions and reflective thoughts. It speaks so much of the troubles people face and the fortitude needed to keep one foot, in front of the other. While memories may haunt and people taunt, the soul keeps our inner drive from dying.

Again, I'd like to say thank you for your time you spent reading this. I cannot possibly tell you how much it means to me. I wrote this in a time where I couldn't carry on until I sat down and was thinking of everything I had done. I didn't know that a friend had wrote a note to me. I found it and that was all I needed. It's a simple thing but we all feel forgotten and just need a little uplift from time to time. All I want for people to take from this poem is that there is always someone who cares for you, no matter what you think.
