![]() My Midnight AdmirerA Poem by Anna Ivy![]() Victorian era.![]() Every night you are at my window Why do you come? What do you seek? Is it me you have chosen to watch Or am I just one stop of many?
Acting as if I am alone How do you feel Knowing I see you there As I change into my evening wear All the time The curtains never quite shut The window always cracked.
Are you a demon? Are you an angel Sneaking down from heaven? Do you watch for fairies too?
And if you can read minds You know I cannot think Of anything but you When men are flirting and Asking me to dance. I think of you watching Brimming with jealousy In hopes you may finally slip through that crack.
Where are you now That I am bathing in the tub Taking in the evening air Curtains fluttering in the wind. Can you not see the sun? Are you hiding in the clouds?
Will I find you in a dream Where you tell me you aren't real? Do you love me, dark stranger? Are you what makes up the moon?
Am I but a moment of time In your thousand-year life? Will you remember me When I am dead? Or will you find Another Sleeping in her bed?
I'll keep the candle lit If you decide. The window cracked The curtains drawn Just once Please come And kiss me goodnight. © 2013 Anna IvyAuthor's Note
