Day (60)

Day (60)

A Chapter by Miss Anna
"

"That was the third most important day of our relationship. The second being when we met, the fourth that conversation just a couple short weeks back, and the first yet to come."

"

I’d never been to an actual bonfire before. I mean, we had them at our house, but that was in town so they were small and careful. This one was out in the country, out of town, and I was so excited to see everyone from the city.

My sister Molly was home from college and was going with us, she was driving so my parents wouldn’t have to, which was amazing in itself honestly. We got into her little silver Toyota: Her, myself, and my friend Alison who also knew a couple people there. I was really trying to set her up with the Free Hugs guy. It didn’t work, but it happens. Anyway, we drove.

It took us two hours, one wrong GPS coordinate set, and a lot of Jake and Amir comedy sketches to get there, but it was worth it. Of course my sister, being the anti-hipster she tends to be, took my iPod and blasted a Kesha (Ke$ha?) song as we pulled up, I was just a bit mortified is all. But there we were, in the trees and dirt road with a cute white house on the right. I finally got Molly to shut off the music and the car, from which I jumped out of to hug whoever was closets. It was Free-Hugs-Shirt-Guy, who I should probably tell you is actually named Vince, if only out of respect. Then of course just behind was Noah, slightly jealous smile on his face. Well you know what, he could have been first, his fault.

The bonfire itself was great, we didn’t eat much, mostly joked around, lit some firecrackers (Okay so Vince shot one, and I burned my hand really bad on one of the cinders he got out of the fire from the explosion so that was the end of that), and as the sun went down, we got the guitars out. It was Vince’s house so he, Noah, and I just went and got the couple they had, and Noah had his as well. This was probably the most memorable part of any, spending an hour tuning, taking turns and arguing over songs to play and who knows what (more importantly, what “amazing new band” no one else had heard of).

Noah and I did our song, of course. Man I hate that song now.

We sat on blankets and watched the fire and each other burn out. I told him I loved him that night. The first time I told anyone outside of my immediate family, and the first time I'd ever meant it. Between the shed and the house, while Vince was still inside and it was the first time we kissed, too. And I’m talkin’ really kissed. So you can see how I’d consider it a productive night. I wished it would never end. But of course, it did. Molly was our timekeeper and at promptly 11:07 pm we loaded up the little silver car and headed out. I realized later that I had no idea what her and Alison did all night. Or Vince, for that matter. Kind of sad, but I knew why I invited them, though admittedly I had more reason than I originally thought, it was nice not being the only one driving home. Or having to drive, I was beyond tired.

That was the third most important day of our relationship. The second being when we met, the fourth that conversation just a couple short weeks back, and the first yet to come.

Miss Anna
So, I had to scroll through the trailer, constantly pausing, playing, and rewinding to get this picture. It goes through the numbers so fast! Just saying, appreciate it.

I want to take this world and dust it off. Take the corruption and tears and sorrow and give it all a little shake. Make the world fresh, make it what it was. more..
