Loud ChangeA Poem by Annie Wilthew
Change is one
Who seems gentle and painless Yet when it happens It knocks me breathless. It makes my supposedly silent steps Thunder and boom like a giant. It causes a tree's pale yellow breaking leaves Twang and screech like an iron cord. It makes the frothy fading clouds Hiss and dissolve like gaseous chemicals I wish change Could softly kiss me on the cheek As I drift away In my embarkation of sleep On my drifting hazy rest I would say Goodbye to change and all it's guests
