Dark alley

Dark alley

A Poem by Anjeline

The flowers that bloomed once with joy  shriveled down to ash
It was the morning when my stout world suddenly came down to crash
The beautiful paths adorned by cherry blossoms all through the spring,
Transformed into the dark alleys of a world that was unknown to zing
Distraught and terrified as I wondered "why is it happening with just me ?"
Wishing to become a silhouette in the eyes of others I wept leaning against a tree.

A  cold, crisp breeze blew past me sending down through my body a jolt
Thereupon I stood ,with a thought that struck me like a thunderbolt
When the zephyr can move forward why can't I forge ahead
After all ' life is not a bed of Roses ' is rightly said.
As I started walking through the dark alley my tears started to fade
I looked up at the pitch black sky and saw a faint but golden shade
Slowly and steadily as I continued to move my pace started to increase
And all of a sudden I realized the torment I was feeling has somehow began to cease.
Following the long, tiring walk at last I saw the light,
A light so wonderfully bright that it was all worth the fight.

Thank you soo much dear :)
It has been my experience that I need to get moving & do stuff, in order to conquer my many grindings & mood-swings of being bipolar. Your poem shows the slow gradual transition, convincing oneself to get up & get going on something, in a way that feels authentic & convincing (((HUGS)))

Perhaps this is a search for what is familiar. Life itself can throw us off kilter like zing. Perhaps a parody of what I feel the world is like right now and we very much want to find a safe place so we continue to a new day dawning

If we are lucky dear Anjeline. Darkness will lead us to the light.

My pleasure, you are most welcome ... N :)
Beautifully conveyed and packed with varied imagery. Those dark alleys can be frightening. We have to hang in there, waiting for that glint of light. And when it comes, it is like a long lost friend in the distance. We have to be patient. It's so lovely to read you again Anjeline. Take care of yourself.

Thanks a lot for your kind words :)
You too take care .
we often go through dark periods in our lives, and we just can't see the roses for the weeds. But eventually if we are persistent enough, strong enough to get through the light will shine brighter than before.
I understand the despair here and have felt it, but I also am touched by the hopeful ending....
