outsider

outsider

A Poem by Anjali

I am a nobody
standing outside,
waiting for someone to
acknowledge my light.

I am the daughter of the dark.
They look at me from inside,
waiting for me to go,
and let them keep their light.

I am the oasis in the desert.
They acknowledge me from outside,
waiting for the time to pass,
so that they could drink up my fake pride.

I am an outsider,
standing outside.

They will never acknowledge my light...

I love this poem, beautifully written and speaks to my soul

That is an awful feeling to think you aren't noticed, that you aren't part of it. Think of yourself like a candle. When you burn everyone will see your radiating light. Keep believing it. Make it happen.

Thank you..
This is beautifully written in a poetic way, even tho the message feels heavy. Here you turn sadness into art. I love your light/dark and inside/outside metaphors, well crafted to show these contrasts built into society, making it feel like insurmountable walls. What I finally figured out in life is that there's nothing going on inside the special area, that is any more desirable than what's going on outside where I am. When I stopped wanting those on the inside to see my light, I started to see those others on the outside were the ones I actually enjoy & prefer the most! Glad to see you back. Hope you can stay. (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

thank you.
So painful. Even though people make you feel like they they remember you only when they need you, feel happy.
Think about a candle who is so selfless that it burns for us.
Though you are a mirage, you satisfy others in the illusion. Never think yourself as a person who is abandoned.
People may not acknowledge your light, they will realise that one day when they see themselves in dark.

glad to know that! :)
This poem is one of the best poems that I read here today..I just loved it..It was so deep and thoughtful..This is a kind of poem that you will love to read again and again and you will love the way its meaning mesmerizes you...I loved each and every line of this poem.I especially liked the third para where you compared yourself with an oasis of desert...The entire para was so beautiful..Some of the lines in this poem were so thoughtful like the way you said you are daughter of dark and the way you continued that para was worth appreciating..I especially liked the title of this poem..When I just read the title I thought of this poem to be something really different from what it actually is...And it turned out to be a really beautiful poem which someone would love reading...
Great work an Keep it up..
Keep on writing and thanks for sharing..
Take care..
Riddhi...
