At 2 a.m in the Night

Though this is a poem I would rather call it song lyrics that I wrote after watching the Hollywood movie "P.S: I LOVE YOU".

At 2 am in the night 

I'm shedding tears remembering you 

Wishing I could just see you 

Dreaming I was there with you 

Cause I think I still love you 

I miss those moments with you 

Because it was so cozy with you 

Well you don't have to bother about me now 

Because I'm alright even without you 

At 2 am in the night 

Every day my eyes are moist 

Now with tears of strength 

To renew myself with new pride 

One day I'll be a beautiful bride 

To someone who would be so right 

Making me believe in love do happen twice 

At 2 am in the night

Some day I'll be alright 

Without shedding tears infinite 

I would be asleep with my soulmate 

Beside me hugging tight 

At 2 am in the night 

It won't bother me to note 

Down the songs that pop up on my mind 

With anxieties of future or memories of the past 

Smiling brightly I may be as happy 

As I had been living fearlessly 

At 2 am in the night 

Now I don't know what's left

Nice write Anjali, poignant theme heartily felt. It's never easy to move on from past and the special one which brought the millions of feelings erupting at a moment. Your poem describes how many young women feel & there's a ton of intensity here. I can very much feel how distraught this narrator must feel, even tho she's trying to shake off this old love/hurt. The reason it's hard for me to read a heartbreak poem like this is becuz it's another example of a young woman feeling like having a man is the only thing in life. When a man rejects you, the dream is to find another man to complete you. How sad! There's more to every woman's life than finding a man. I know this sentiment is strong in your culture & I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm criticizing this way of thinking. The main thing is, your poem is expressive & it paints the reality of how many young women feel about finding love, finding a soulmate that's perfect (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Heartbreak often comes before we find the one that will our perfect match. Healing comes, but it takes time. Sleepless nights over love, are the pits. Felt some hurt in this Haven't seen the film though, but your lines will be relatable to many.
