A Mother Or A Mom

A Mother Or A Mom

A Poem by ~Anita Sandlin~

A mom is a special kind of lady,
not every female chooses to be,
or can be a mom.
A mom is a lady that chooses
to be there to kiss a scraped knee,
hold you when your sick, or just be there
if you need a friend to talk to.
Every female can bare a child
and therefore she is called a mother,
but it takes much more to be a mom.
To be a mom you have to have
a heart full of love, you have to be caring,
you have to have compassion, and be kind.
A real mom is that special lady that isn't
just a parent, but she is also your best friend
through thick and thin. If you still don't realize
the difference between a mother and a mom,
just ask a child that has been abused by their mother.

Written for an abused child that wishes
she had a real mom not a mother,
and yes that child is me.
