I Am Only A Shell

I Am Only A Shell

A Poem by ~Anita Sandlin~

I am only a shell
of the person I used to be.
A shell that feels shattered
and broken.
I used to be a warm and loving mom,
but my children have been ripped from my arms only to be returned when they are no longer children.
My children are now being raised by
another family; A family who has adopted them as their own.
I can no longer be called their mom,
for now they call another lady mom. But, I am still
their mother, for I gave them life.
I am only a shell, a shell that is
shattered and broken.
