Release Me

Release Me

A Poem by ~Anita Sandlin~

I love you; I do.
But you have said that we couldn't be
together, so why won't you release me?
I do not call you, I do not write you,
yet you still contact me.
If we can't be together, you have to
let me go, you have to release me.
Don't you understand that it kills me
over and over each time you say
  "I love you."
Yes, I love you too, but what is
the sense in torturing ourselves?
I have waited two and a half years for
you to decide and choose me. You chose her
but yet you won't release me. You are killing
me can't you see? The choice has been made,
and now we have to live with that.
I'm not gonna lie to you, Yes, it hurts
like hell, and I feel like an empty shell.
I'm living in my own hell.
If you love me, you have to let me go,
you have to release me and let me fly free.
Can't you see, you are killing me?
Please set me free, Release me.

About
I have been writing poetry for about 13 years now. Some of my work is pretty good while others still needs work. I know that I am my own worst critic, but that's how you get better at writing. Most of.. more..
