I Am Not Afraid

I Am Not Afraid

A Poem by ~Anita Sandlin~

I was afraid to let the world see me.
Afraid someone would laugh at me.
Afraid I wouldn't be liked for who I am.
I was afraid someone would talk about
me behind my back.
Afraid my clothes was too cheap.
Afraid someone would know that
I didn't have a lot of money.
I was afraid that I wasn't good enough.
I am no longer afraid to let the world see me.
Who cares if someone laughs at me; someone
probably laughs at them too.
Who cares if no one likes me for who I am;
Someone probably doesn't like them for
who they are either.
I am no longer afraid someone will talk about
me behind my back; Someone probably talks
about them behind their backs.
Who cares if my clothes are cheap; Their clothes
probably didn't cost much either.
Who cares if they know that I don't have a lot
of money; They probably don't have a lot either.
I am no longer afraid of not being good enough;
I am no better than they, and they are no better than I.

I am no longer afraid to let the world see me;
So here I am take a good look.

About
I have been writing poetry for about 13 years now. Some of my work is pretty good while others still needs work. I know that I am my own worst critic, but that's how you get better at writing. Most of.. more..
