Smile

Smile

A Poem by Anissa Ali
"

This is inspired by the struggles I've gone through, but also a lot of people have through especially girl who have been told to smile even though sometimes it is so hard to smile.

"
Smile
Why won't you smile?
Why won't you put on a face that makes me feel better?
Why won't you give in to my selfish requests?

Smile
Please stop crying, you're making me upset.
Please stop crying and just smile, how hard is that?

Smile
Why aren't you smiling even though I am not?
Why aren't you smiling even though the whole room is not?

Smile
How about you ask me why I am not smiling.
How about you set aside your selfishness and bias for once and ask how I am feeling and stop telling me how I should feel!

Smile
I will not put on a fake smile just for you.
If you cannot except me at my worst, then you do not deserve me at my best when I truly smile.
