Life, a journey

Life, a journey

A Poem by Anisha Nagchaudhuri

Life, a journey
Where the ending is unforeseen, unplanned, unexpected
Who knows how many grains of sand are left in the upper half of the hourglass?
Who knows how many seconds are yet to tick by before it all ends?
Life, a journey
Filled with right and wrong, order and disorder, helping and hurting
There is healing and happiness along the way, but also pain and sadness
Everybody is guilty, we all have our vices, no matter how big or small they may be
It is inevitable and it is a reoccurrence
I have hurt you, I have made mistakes, I tried not to, but it happened anyway
Tomorrow onwards, the cycle will start anew
It won’t be easy, the road will be rough
I tried my best, I’ll try again and again, but it’s never enough
So all I ask of you is this
Please find it in your heart to forgive me now, just for today, right in this moment
Today, at the  dawn of a new beginning
Forgive me for my old self and all my old mistakes
