A slave to death

A slave to death

A Poem by Elizabeth Cooper

The note that lied
Underneath the decades-long old table
Slyly took my eyes to peep
And slide it out through treble

It wasn't a death note
But perhaps a letter of love
For something remained after you
That I had to put above

For years you've been mad after me
I was fool enough to never have considered
You've been the best of friends
The trustable person I never cared

Your note speaks a lot
A few words but for love it craves
Trembling fingers, still hand written
"Take care and smile" it says.

I remember the days back then
How I'd crave for beauty tales
Finding perfection in anything and everything
So I'm to face loneliness and it yells.

I shouldn't have been rude to you
I shouldn't have been busy
For it all doesn't matter anymore
I'd driven someone crazy

I wish you were here again
I wish to love you now when
i couldn't see your inner beauty
Nor did i leave you a note back then...

Dear Elizabeth. We always learn too late. We had a kind love near.
"I wish you were here again
I wish to love you now when
i couldn't see your inner beauty
Nor did i leave you a note back then..."
The above lines. I do understand. I kept a few love letters. Reminders for me to be kind. Powerful and amazing poetry shared. I did like.
