I Wonder Why

I Wonder Why

A Poem by Anna Hopkins

I blink, I flush,
I blemish, I blush,
I sing, I cry,
I wonder why?
I never run,
I never play,
I sit alone, at home all day.
I think, I dream,
I sob, I scream.
I mourn, I sigh,
I wonder why?
I wander aimlessly,
Waiting for one to help me,
I stay alone,
Still as a stone,
The sun hides from me,
Never shines warmly,
Simply strays,
Far away
Into a hidden canopy.
I wonder why?

I wonder why?
The sun won't rise.
Won't call unto my name.
I wonder why?
The leaves all cry,
The moist teardrops of rain.
I wonder why?
A simple sigh,
Can tear a soul apart.
I wonder why?
I cannot fly,
And why I have no heart.

About
I guess you could say, it all started in third grade. I didn't know I apparently had a talent, so when we were asked to write a story, or a poem, or god-knows-what, I went up first, always a big fan o.. more..
