Despoiler of Flesh

Despoiler of Flesh

A Poem by Animated Shadow
"

A fantasy/witchcraft poem with lucid, Dungeons & Dragons-type imagery...

"
Like human tongues sewn end-to-end, it
Bends and drips and slightly curls while
Moonlit paths of stone ascend, twisting
Like four hungry vines 'round crumbling
Columns there that lie, two shrively seeds
Pushed deep into the pupil-+ of a child's
Eye! Purge my Garden of Secrets (pierce
This heart like a vein) from behind these
Locked gates do I burgeon and grow 'till
I burst like hot particles set into motion,
Wreathed in dark flames as the pit fiends
Below! Far deeper than Leviathan's lair
In the ocean--and strong as black magic
Enhanced with a potion--I taste of that
Unleaven bread of the angels, dipped in
The blood of the Lamb...

Author's Note

Animated Shadow
This is the last verse I penned, number twenty because I have only been writing less than a year. It is grammatically perfect, and presented in its desired format. I sometimes utilize abstract symbols (-+) to communicate to the subconscious and affect the reader by the overall appearance of the poem. In my opinion, this can often be just as important as the content of the poem itself! But I am new at this, and would greatly appreciate any feedback I can get--positive or negative. How did it effect you?
